Our emails, texts, calls, and Zooms have been a little sporadic this week as the CCA team has come together to put our heads down to do some planning and team-building. During Home Week in Indianapolis, we have been thinking about the structures and systems we can change for the better, and how we can mobilize our team to make it happen. And, of course, we have had some fun along the way. #CCADoesTheWork

CCA is a national advocate for dramatically increasing college completion and closing institutional performance gaps.
关于我们
Established in 2009, Complete College America is a national nonprofit with a single mission: to work with states to significantly increase the number of Americans with quality career certificates or college degrees and to close attainment gaps for traditionally underrepresented populations. The need for this work is compelling. Between 1970 and 2009, undergraduate enrollment in the United States more than doubled, while the completion rate has been virtually unchanged. We've made progress in giving students from all backgrounds access to college - but we haven't finished the all-important job of helping them achieve a degree. Counting the success of all students is an essential first step. And then we must move with urgency to reinvent American higher education to meet the needs of the new majority of students on our campuses, delicately balancing the jobs they need with the educations they desire. Complete College America believes there is great reason for optimism and a clear path forward. With a little more support - and a lot of common sense - we can ensure that many more get the high-quality college education that will help them live productive and fulfilling lives. All Americans will share in the benefits of their success.

A year of impact from Nichole Mann at Complete College America! #CCADoesTheWork
It's my anniversary! One year ago today I joined the team at Complete College America. Today I'm extra grateful to spend my work-iversary gathered together with my colleagues in my home state for CCA's annual Home Week. I'm grateful for all I've learned, the wonderful #ImpatientReformers I've met or re-engaged with (including many of you!), and the wide range of opportunities I've had to contribute to college success and completion. I can't wait to gather with all of you here in Indy again next month at #CCAAllIn2024 (now with 30% more dragons). Remembering to take photos isn't one of my superpowers, but here are some highlights from the past year. #CCADoesTheWork

?? It's this right here. Student success can have many different meanings, but if a campus doesn't define what it means for its students, "student success" is a non-starter. More insights below from CCA Strategy Director Cassie Walizer. #CCADoesTheWork
In my presentations to student success professionals, I often start with a simple activity: "In small groups, draft a definition of student success." The catch: it's rarely simple. Too often, individuals either cannot reach consensus or look to leadership for the "right" answer. Every institution needs a clear definition of student success. More importantly, everyone on campus (regardless of role) should be able to recite this definition and explain how their work contributes to it. This definition should be: ?? Reflected in the strategic plan with clear success metrics ?? Well-socialized across the campus community ?? Embedded in the institution's culture To achieve this, create a standard student success definition that is: ? Clear and easily understood ? Aligned with the institution's mission ? Integrated into the strategic plan ? Central to all student success initiatives As part of the Complete College America Intermediaries for Scale, branded the Complete College Accelerator at CCA, funded by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation project, we are working with institutions to embed student success in their culture. How has your institution approached defining and institutionalizing student success? Do you have examples of student success branding materials to share? Share your experiences below! #HigherEd #StudentSuccess #CCADoesTheWork

CCA has long advocated for corequisite support and other data-proven measures for students to get the support they need when entering higher education. A strong start is critical to earning a degree. #CCADoesTheWork
In 2012, the nonprofit Complete College America found that “nearly 4 in 10 remedial students in community colleges never complete their remedial courses” and that “fewer than one in 10 graduate within three years.” The report spurred a coalition of foundations, nonprofits, and educators to launch a bold effort at reform. But more than a decade later, just one in four colleges and universities have overhauled their remedial courses. Anne Kim explores the wide-reaching implications for students, professors, administrators, and colleges in The Washington Monthly.?

Sr. Vice President & Chief of Staff @ Complete College America | #HigherEd #StudentSuccess | Practice | Policy | Perspectives
In our 15th year of #highereducation #studentsuccess movement building and institutional transformation, Diverse: Issues In Higher Education features Complete College America and the transformative leadership of our president, Yolanda Watson Spiva, Ph.D., BCC. It is an honor to be a member of this community of "impatient reformers." Onward & Upward!
Complete College America (CCA) is transforming higher education graduation rates, as highlighted in a recent Diverse: Issues In Higher Education article. Among our achievements: - 10% overall increase in credentials awarded since 2015 at CCA Alliance institutions - 30% more bachelor's, associate, and certificate attainment in Indiana - 70% increase in on-time graduation rates at CUNY two-year institutions Under the leadership of Yolanda Watson Spiva, Ph.D., BCC, CCA has expanded its focus to minority-serving institutions, historically excluded student populations, and first-generation, low-income, and rural community college students. Our approach emphasizes: - Data-driven decision making - Partnerships with state leaders and institutions - Innovative strategies to improve student outcomes - Advocacy for equity in higher education Dr. Watson Spiva states, 'We believe if you scale and adopt certain strategies, content experiences, research and resources, you can drive behavioral change.' At CCA, we're committed to creating a culture of completion and ensuring all students have the opportunity for academic success and social mobility.
