Talent Spotlight: Peyton Nielsen https://lnkd.in/g-4svNHW Today we’d like to take a moment to recognize an up-and-coming accident reconstructionist, Peyton Nielsen. Peyton joined Compass Consulting Engineers just under two years ago and brought with him 5 years of previous engineering experience doing some really cool stuff! In addition to working on the design and manufacture of boats, springs, and suspension components, Peyton worked as a technician for bicycles and automobiles alike. Resume in One Sentence: Peyton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and an Associates of Science degree and is a licensed commercial drone pilot. He’s currently pursuing further certification as a heavy truck and passenger vehicle download technician and with Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstructionists (ACTAR). On the Clock: On any given workday, Peyton might be doing a scene inspection (LiDAR scans, drone aerial imaging), inspecting and characterizing a bicycle or scooter damaged in an accident, analyzing and performing calculations for an automobile, heavy truck, motorcycle or pedestrian crash, or performing HVE simulation analysis. Off the Clock: In his off time, Peyton enjoys mountain biking or skiing, the choice between the two being dependent on Colorado’s weather. A self-proclaimed Craigslist connoisseur and collector, Peyton also spends his free time restoring vintage bicycles, cars, and other antiques.

And more of us are doing it in our cities with modes ranging from bicycle sharing to E-bikes and E-scooters How do YOU micromobilize? Whichever mode you are using, stay safe out there! The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that from 2017 to 2021, micromobility use resulted in over 267,000 emergency department visits. Although e-bikes have been around for decades, injuries stemming from their use increased 30 times from 2017 to 2022, according to a 2024 study out of UC San Francisco. They are actual, physical measures of a vehicle's response to a particular action or environment while the vehicle is in motion.
