The largest volunteer-based free health clinic in the nation, serving uninsured Chicagoans for more than 30 years.
关于我们
Founded in 1993, CommunityHealth is dedicated to serving the uninsured and underserved in Chicago and surrounding communities. We provide over 17,000 medical and dental visits for more than 10,000 patients every year. This level of care is made possible thanks to the time and talent of more than 1,000 volunteers, including 350+ providers (physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, counselors, etc.). CommunityHealth’s main facility, the Lederman Family Health Center, is located in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood. In 2010, we opened a satellite in Chicago’s south side Englewood neighborhood — a community with great need and limited resources. As the largest volunteer-based free medical facility in the United States, we offer demonstrated success and an innovative model for providing compassionate and comprehensive medical and dental care to the uninsured. If you are interested in supporting CommunityHealth, you can be sure that your donation is truly making a difference. That’s because every dollar we spend translates to more than $8.00 in care delivered. As a totally free, volunteer-based organization, we receive no reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, or third-party payers. We rely on support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and institutions for more than 95% of our revenue. CommunityHealth simply could not exist without your commitment.

"Patients of the free clinic for uninsured individuals in Chicago are canceling appointments or converting them to phone consultations out of fear of deportation, due to the intensified immigration policy of President Trump. The management of Community Health, which has primarily served Latino and Polish patients for over 30 years, is concerned that this may adversely affect the health of immigrant communities in Chicago." At CommunityHealth, we believe no one should go without health care. Grounded in our Core Values of Excellence, Respect, Trust, Collaboration, and Justice, we are a safe space for all. As one of the nation’s largest volunteer-based health centers, CommunityHealth provides primary and specialty care, dental, medications, lab testing, mental health services, and health education at no charge to low-income, uninsured and underinsured adults in Chicago. This will not change. We will never discriminate based on race, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, national origin, or immigration status. We are committed to providing respectful, gender-affirming care. We will remain an island of safety for Chicagoans seeking health care, because no one should have to choose between seeking medical attention and protecting their safety. For today, tomorrow, and beyond, CommunityHealth will continue to strive toward our vision of quality health care for all.

Tradeoffs talked with more than a dozen people who provide care to or study the health of undocumented immigrants and asked: 1) How could Trump’s immigration policies affect people’s health? And 2) How are the clinics and other providers trying to cut through the panic of their undocumented patients in this moment? "Governor Pritzker’s commitment to addressing healthcare affordability— not only by supporting our clinics but also through initiatives such as retroactive medical debt relief, reforms to insurance pre-authorizations, behavioral health cost caps, and pharmaceutical pricing—takes significant strides toward a fully accessible and equitable healthcare system. Healthcare is a fundamental human right, and with your support, IAFCC remains committed to ensuring that all uninsured and underinsured Illinoisans can access the care they need." The fear of deportation in Chicago is already have a big impact on people's health. * Hundreds of patients skipping appointments * Prescriptions like insulin & high blood pressure meds not picked up * Immigrants not renewing or disenrolling in public benefits, even if their children are U.S. citizens. Thank you to the brave people who shared their stories.
