关于我们
Community Change, and its sister organization Community Change Action, work to build the power and capacity of low-income people, especially low-income people of color, to change the policies and institutions that impact their lives. "Community Change” is both our name and a statement of our purpose. Our goal is to dramatically improve material conditions for people struggling to make ends meet in the United States, and we have a 15-year plan to do so. On the path ahead, our role is to fuse the power of organized people, bold ideas, and political clout — a three-dimensional power that we believe is the recipe for an economy and democracy where everyone can thrive.

?? Excited to share that over the past year, I've had the privilege to work with my colleagues at Community Change (esp Ingrid Zelaya-Ascencio) and the brilliant team at Change Agent AI (esp Craig Johnson, Aram Fischer, Nicolai Haddal) to build a first-of-its-kind private LLM. Our goals: to strengthen and safeguard grassroots organizing; and to disrupt wealthy corporations' cycle of using these tech advances to consolidate more power. From the release ? “The communities who have historically had the freedom to innovate with new technology have been the people who already have traditional resources and power,” said?Mikka Kei Macdonald, Creative Director at Community Change Action.??“It is both our strategic and moral imperative to make sure that as AI strategy evolves, community organizers and low-income people are not left behind. We have the opportunity to ensure that the next series of innovations are borne and led by the people who will be impacted by them – not just by wealthy entrepreneurs who do not reflect the diversity of the country.” It takes a village to build this type of work, and this one includes the brains of Jasmine Nazarett, Domenica Ghanem, Lizzie Maldonado, Kristee Paschall, Jeff Parcher and many, many more. This fight takes many people and many conversations - and there is far more to share. If you'd like to be involved, or if you have questions and ideas, please DM me. Onwards. https://lnkd.in/efzGxxBx

Congratulations to our own Jennifer Wells for being named of 22 leaders from across the country selected as a 2024 The Aspen Institute #AscendFellow! https://lnkd.in/eAg5GG-9
Vice President at The Aspen Institute | Executive Director for Ascend at The Aspen Institute | Co-Chair, Aspen Institute Forum on Women and Girls
It is with joy and inspiration that I finally get to introduce our 2024 The Aspen Institute Ascend Fellows! These 22 leaders are committed to transforming the systems that our young children and their families experience, focusing on big ideas like: - Ensuring new parents, children, and their families have access to mental and behavioral health services, - Applying lessons from #Indigenous communities to home visiting and well-being across the lifespan,? - Building family stability to help keep families together and children out of child welfare systems, and - Expanding #guaranteedincome and other sources of capital, so families can determine their own paths. By embracing the power of change capital – financial, intellectual, human, and social capital – they are making the world work for children and families. Learn more about this incredible class: https://lnkd.in/gKs2E7vV I can’t wait to gather with them at our first Fellows Forum in Aspen later this month!
