March is DD Awareness Month. We invite Oregonians to celebrate members of Oregon’s intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) community and the many ways they contribute to their local communities. At Community Vision, we have seen time and time again how the people we support make their communities and job sites better. Governor Tina Kotek signed a proclamation declaring March 2025 to be DD Awareness Month in Oregon. ? Nearly 67,000 adults and children in Oregon have developmental disabilities. They live and work side by side with their neighbors to form strong, diverse communities. This year’s DD Awareness Always theme highlights that every person has valuable strengths, infinite capacity to thrive, and the potential to make important contributions to their local communities. We all deserve to live full lives that include opportunities for competitive, integrated employment, safe and accessible housing, meaningful relationships, and access to physical and mental health care. Community Vision fully embraces these values and continues our work to make sure they are a reality for the I/DD community. Thank you to the Oregon Council on Developmental Disabilities (OCDD) for organizing this campaign. Assistive technology (AT) gives people with disabilities opportunities for greater independence. The AT Lab at Community Vision is an educational resource center where people can learn about and try out a wide range of AT tools and devices. We are grateful to the Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation for its support of our AT Lab. This support allows us to offer: ? Open Lab weekly drop-in hours—Thursdays, noon to 5 p.m. All are welcome! ? Free Loan Closet, where you can borrow AT tools for two weeks to try at home ? Free advice line—email or call the AT Lab with your questions about AT and how to access it To learn more about the work of Community Vision’s AT Lab and to visit: https://CV-ATLab.org Image: Child at a playground wearing a pink coat and smiling gives a thumbs up to the camera.
