Stigmas surround recovery like a dark cloud, preventing individuals from getting the help they need. One way to break down persistent stigmas is by using non-stigmatizing, person-first language. Certain phrases that are commonly used in popular culture can be unknowingly harmful to those in recovery; consider using these helpful phrases instead. To learn more about how we’re helping to shape the narrative around recovery, visit CTI-OK.org.

It’s National Eating Disorders Week, and now is the time to shift perceptions and increase awareness and support for those who are impacted by eating disorders. Sadly, one person dies from an eating disorder every 52 minutes—the second-highest mortality rate among mental health conditions—but we’re doing what we can to help change that. At CTI-OK, we offer a multifaceted, individualized approach to treating eating disorders, including offering nutritional support to help patients develop a healthier relationship with food, group and individual counseling to address negative beliefs and behaviors, and medical interventions to address physical symptoms. If you or a loved one needs help, reach out to us at CTI-OK.org
