It's been15 years since we passed the ACA. I was still a young Hill staffer, but the small part I had in it was--and still is--one of the most important achievements of my career. I've been lucky enough to continue working on implementation of the ACA in one way or another, most recently to ensure that consumers have access to affordable, comprehensive coverage. Right now, the extension of the Enhanced Premium Tax Credits is crucial. If the tax credits expire, consumers will face higher premiums and many will lose coverage, leading to a vicious cycle of a degraded risk pool and even higher costs. We at the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) urge Congress to extend the Enhanced PTCs as soon as possible.
This week marks the 15th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act. The ACA has significantly reduced the uninsured rate and provided coverage to more than 24 million people through the Marketplace and Medicaid expansion. ACAP celebrates this milestone, but recognizes that this progress is at risk. The enhanced premium tax credits (APTCs) that make coverage affordable for millions will expire at the end of 2025 unless Congress acts. Without these credits, premiums could rise by 44%, and millions could lose coverage. ? Learn more from Keep Americans Covered:?https://bit.ly/4hxUsrt
