In recognition of Veterans Day, we want to thank the 1,300+ military Veterans across our organization who have honorably served our country. People like Ginger Thomas, RN, Director of Emergency Services at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. Ginger found similarities between the front lines of the Army and the front lines of emergency care. She says being in the Army teaches you about teamwork, accountability and integrity - all foundational elements of being a team leader, especially in situations where your actions can be the difference between life and death. Thank you, SGT Thomas for your military service, your leadership, and the care you provide for patients. And, to all of the women and men who have protected and defended our nation—we thank and we salute you. #VeteransDay | #ThankAVet

Across the CHS organization, approximately 20,000 physicians and advanced practice clinicians help ensure high-quality healthcare services are available in the communities we serve. Access to expert medical care can be life-saving. It also contributes to the overall quality of life available for local residents. So, today, we thank the physicians and other providers who are our partners in healthcare and who join us in our promise to provide value for the people and communities we serve. There are no tricks, just treats as babies are dressed in adorable costumes across CHS hospital maternity and NICU units today. We can't help but like little Harmony's costume - and hope it's a sign that she has a future in medicine!?Whatever she decides to be when she grows up, we hope it is a boo-tiful life ahead! #HappyHalloween

Grandview Medical Center employees have generously donated more than 75,000 diapers to Bundles of Hope Diaper Bank’s Annual Stuff the Bus Diaper Drive—their largest donation yet! In Birmingham, Alabama, where Grandview is located, nearly a quarter of all households - and more than 40% of female-headed households with children - live in poverty. Diapers are expensive and a necessity, but they are not typically covered by government support programs. And, without access to diapers, childcare options are limited, making it harder for parents to work and earn an income. Bundles of Hope helps families experiencing financial hardship by giving away diapers at no cost. All families with babies should have access to diapers. Way to go, Grandview team! You are changing lives, one diaper change at a time!

Baldwin Health's $200 million hospital expansion is officially complete and patients are now receiving care inside this new, beautiful, nearly 200,000-square-foot tower, which includes more intensive care space for high-acuity patients, new surgical space, a dedicated womens' and childrens' unit, and more inpatient beds. This capital project is the largest recent investment in healthcare services in the area—and critically needed to keep up with rapid growth in Foley, Alabama and surrounding?communities.?And, by the way, Baldwin Health is a CMS 5-star rated hospital, too. That's a quality distinction awarded to fewer than 400 hospitals nationwide.?Congratulations?to the Baldwin Health team!

This week may be coming to an end, but the recovery from Hurricanes Helene and Milton will take a very long time. CHS hospitals in Florida were prepared for the devastating storms this week and we want to thank our?health system teams for all they did to get ready, keep patients and staff safe, and ensure quality health services remained available wherever possible. Teamwork. Courage. Commitment. Resiliency. These attributes apply to the women and men who take care of patients and support health services every day - and this week we needed you more than ever. Our hearts go out to everyone who suffered as a result of the hurricanes and we want you to know that as we move forward with recovery, we're with you and will be with you in the days ahead.

The Nashville Health Care Council's #Sessions2024 discussion about the evolving needs of America's aging population included themes?about creating access to the services seniors need, a greater focus on preventative?care, building trust, and creating care models that intervene faster to address medical needs in the outpatient setting, preserving acute care for when hospitals are needed most.?Community Health Systems CEO Tim Hingtgen noted that most of the one million patient encounters happening across CHS health systems each month are for outpatient care. He said that developing stronger patient-provider relationships and making it easier for seniors to connect to the various services they need are keys to better care and fewer hospitalizations for aging Americans. It was also the perfect time to talk about the benefit of CHS' at-home, remote patient monitoring and chronic care management program powered by Cadence. With more than 14,000 patients enrolled, CHS and Cadence are helping older adults live healthier, providing peace of mind for patients and their families, and we are achieving better outcomes. Yesterday at Sessions, Cadence CEO Chris Altchek also talked about how remote patient monitoring is a huge advantage for many people now, and will become an imperative in the future, if we are going to continue to help and improve the health of people living with chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and heart failure. #betteroutcomes #livehealthier

So great to hear CHS President and Chief Medical Officer Lynn Simon and CEO and Co-Founder of Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs Alex Oshmyansky, MD, PhD, talk about our partnership at #Sessions2024 today. Dr. Oshmyansky discussed the need for greater transparency across the pharmaceutical supply chain and how Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs was built with flexibility in mind to help address supply chain challenges as they occur. Dr. Simon emphasized the importance of addressing drug shortages and rising costs to help drive greater value in healthcare. This innovative partnership is definitely making a difference.
