Community Health Northwest Florida’s Dr. Darrell Miller earns Consultant Pharmacist of the Year Award: Community Health Northwest Florida’s Chief Strategy Officer Recognized for Outstanding Service and Leadership ?Community Health Northwest Florida is proud to announce that Darrell Miller, PharmD, Chief Strategy Officer, has received the prestigious 2024 Frank Toback Consultant Pharmacist of the Year Award from the Florida Pharmacy Association (FPA). This esteemed recognition honors Dr. Miller’s exceptional contributions to the field of pharmacy and his unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare. Named in honor of Frank Toback, a pioneering figure in South Florida’s pharmacy community, this award celebrates the significant impact and dedication of Licensed Consultant Pharmacists. Toback was among the earliest Licensed Consultant Pharmacists in the region, and his legacy continues to inspire excellence in the profession. With approximately 33,000 licensed pharmacists in Florida, less than 10% achieve the status of Licensed Consultant Pharmacist. These professionals play a critical role in supervising various healthcare facilities, including hospitals, surgery centers, prisons, nursing homes, adult living facilities, and dialysis centers, ensuring optimal medication management and patient care. To attain this designation, pharmacists must undergo additional specialized training and complete a minimum of 12 hours per year of Consultant Continuing Education, beyond the standard 15 hours required for their pharmacist license. Dr. Miller’s selection as this year’s recipient underscores his extensive involvement and leadership within the pharmacy profession. Since 1997, he has been actively engaged with the FPA, contributing to various councils and committees and advocating for the advancement of pharmacy practice. “Receiving the Frank Toback Consultant Pharmacist of the Year Award is a tremendous honor,” said Dr. Miller. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside so many dedicated professionals and to contribute to the field of pharmacy in meaningful ways. Monday, August 5, was National Health Center’s Week recognition of Healthcare for the Homeless. Community Health Northwest Florida is helping to overcome the unique barriers our homeless population faces. Our team was out with our Mobile Medical Unit at Alfred Washburn Center with care packages of healthy treats (thank you CHNWF Pharmacy!) Living on the street or in homeless shelters exacerbates existing health problems and causes new ones. Poor health can also cause homelessness when people have insufficient income to afford housing. Since February, 2014, our Waterfront Rescue Mission Clinic has provided primary health care services to all levels of homeless in the community (street, shelter, transitional housing and doubled-up). This clinic has increased access to much needed care for this vulnerable population, and the number of patient visits continues to grow each year. In addition to this site, Community Health Northwest Florida cares for the homeless at all care sites, and through mobile health and dental units. #Teamwork #Community #Partnership #ValueCHCs #NHCW24
