Our season has come to an end, with our final distributions of apples, butternut squash, onions, garlic, green beans, bok choy, carrots and beets going out in time for Thanksgiving.  This will bring us to over 1 million servings of fruits and vegetables that CHP donated in 2024! A final thank you to the last volunteer groups this season belongs to National Grid, Dell Technologies, SMPS Boston, Rockland Trust, UMass Chan Medical School, and students from North Street Elementary and Whitinsville Christian.  We are looking forward to a winter of planning and hope to see you in 2025! 271 volunteers in just SIX DAYS engaged in the meaningful work that keeps our farm and orchard running. As our season is winding down, the fields are being prepared for winter. Many hands make light work and having seen more than 5,000 volunteers by October (!) has been a tremendous help in moving our mission forward. Our volunteers continue to create an impact both at our farm and orchard. Apples are coming off the trees while fields are being cleaned up and winter crops are seeded. It's always an honor to be chosen as an organization where corporations host employees while engaging in days of service. Yesterday, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts engaged 20 teammates in a morning of picking, sorting and packing apples for local hunger relief. Together, they picked 2,240 pounds and packed 2,480 pounds, or 16,120 servings, of apples that will be distributed through our community partners to our neighbors in need.
