The success of this initiative would not be possible without our strategic partnership with Great Start to Quality, Lake Superior Community Partnership, Marquette Alger RESA, and Regionerate.? Childcare SPARK received initial support from Council of Michigan Foundations’ Statewide Equity Fund and an ARPA allocation from the Marquette County Commission. This innovative program, the first of its kind, combines expertise from business development, childcare operations, and childhood development organizations to create a unique business accelerator model for individuals interested in starting licensed home-based childcare businesses.? By creating a playbook to share with other communities to address the challenges surrounding access to quality care for children and families, and establishing an endowment for ongoing support, the CFMC’s goal is that the collaborative efforts undertaken now will have a lasting impact on our community for years to come.???
The Statewide Equity Fund (SEF) launched as a $2 million CMF member-driven pooled fund aimed at providing the infrastructure needed to help shape the incoming American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds and other federal dollars toward equity-centered approaches. The SEF Strategic Support Pilot was established to empower CMF members to strategically pool resources toward systemic change. Community Foundation of Marquette County (CFMC) served as a pilot site and partnered with Marquette County, utilizing their master plan, to access funding to support a new childcare initiative. Childcare SPARK is designed to create a pipeline of childcare providers who can offer economically viable and financially sustainable high-quality care services for all families in the region. Hear from your Michigan philanthropy peers and their partners leading this work in Marquette about how these partnerships and efforts took shape in the SEF video series:?https://lnkd.in/gCRJKxCr Read more about CFMC's work and key insights learned through the SEF Strategic Support Pilot in the new SEF playbook: https://lnkd.in/g8qkTjnJ
