It was so great to see the For Impact Leaders program and participants featured in this year’s Des Moines Business Record's edition of Pillars of Philanthropy! We love seeing past participants share their thoughts and ideas on how to continue to build a strong and innovative for impact sector in Des Moines and across Iowa.

In the early 2000s, five Iowa moms connected after each lost a daughter to stillbirth or infant death. Out of this grew Healthy Birth Day, founded on the belief that stillbirths and poor birth outcomes can be preventable. Their Count the Kicks program teaches expectant parents the method for tracking fetal movement during the third trimester of pregnancy. Research shows this program has led to a more than 30% reduction in Iowa’s stillbirth rate since the program launched in 2008. Kristi stopped by Healthy Birth Day, Inc. to catch up with CEO Emily Price earlier this month.
