?? 2025 CCT Project Highlight ?? The Lawyers Clearinghouse on Affordable Housing and Homelessness connects the legal community with low-income clients and nonprofits in need. Its programs include the Massachusetts Legal Clinic for the Homeless, offering full representation for basic needs; the Nonprofit Assistance Program, matching volunteer lawyers with nonprofits and providing governance training; and the Access to Justice Fellows Program, pairing retired legal professionals with nonprofits to expand justice. Unique in Boston, it offers no-cost legal services to non-veteran homeless individuals and is the only statewide provider of pro bono services to nonprofits. To expand their impact, they’ve engaged CCT to evaluate their Nonprofit Assistance Program, aiming to enhance efficiency, focus on the most effective services, and explore synergies across programs. If time permits, they would also like guidance on their key requirements for a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.??CCT is excited to support their mission of justice for all! ?? 2025 CCT Project Highlight ?? Founded in 1937, Community Art Center (CAC) has been a pillar of the Cambridge community, dedicated to empowering youth through the arts. Their mission is to cultivate an engaged community of young artists whose voices transform their lives, neighborhoods, and the world. At CAC, they provide a nurturing, family-like environment with essential support—including transportation, mental and emotional wellness services, and up to three full meals a day. Our diverse programs serve children, teens, and families, ensuring that those in crisis have access to critical resources. As they enter their 88th year, they remain a grassroots organization committed to serving the historically marginalized residents of Cambridge’s Port neighborhood. However, with gentrification reshaping our community, we are actively exploring expansion opportunities to solidify CAC as a hub for Black and Brown arts and culture. Specifically the project would be focused on building a financial operating model that will allow the evaluation of different expansion scenarios and conducting an analysis of "competitive" best practices of similar organizations. ?? 2025 CCT Project Highlight ?? Conflict is everywhere—but resolving it doesn’t have to be costly or combative. Since 1979, the Community Dispute Settlement Center (CDSC), a small not-for-profit mediation and training center, has provided affordable, effective mediation and conflict resolution training in areas like divorce, housing, and more. With a dedicated team of volunteer mediators, training programs in conflict management, and broad community outreach, CDSC empowers individuals to navigate disputes. In the past fiscal year, CDSC has seen over 60% growth in the number of people served—and they're just getting started. Yet, despite its impact, CDSC remains less well-known than other social services, relying heavily on referrals. To expand its reach and connect with new clients for mediation and workshops, CDSC seeks marketing expertise from CCT to define their primary audience groups and articulate their message and impact. The CCT team will be invited to work with Board members at their annual retreat in March as part of their engagement. ?? ?? 2025 CCT Project Highlight ?? New England Culinary Arts Training (NECAT) empowers adults facing employment barriers through free, 14-week culinary training, social-emotional development, and career-readiness services. It serves individuals overcoming challenges like substance use recovery, incarceration, unstable housing, or language barriers, with programs in multiple locations, including Suffolk County Correctional. NECAT also helps participants find a job in the restaurant industry, hotel, senior living facility, catering company, etc. NECAT seeks CCT’s help to determine the best measures to track and evaluate its social and economic impact. Due to transient and disparate populations, it’s hard to track students after graduation. Providing employment training and placement services often has significant benefits towards reducing homelessness, recidivism and other hardship factors that can be a drain on communities and resources over and above the direct impact to students. NECAT wants to be able to regularly report these economic and social outcomes using honest and relevant data. This analysis will inform strategic growth, enhance marketing, fundraising, and grant writing, and strengthen reporting to stakeholders. ?? 2025 CCT Project Highlight ?? ? ??Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Dorchester, Boston City Singers’ mission is to provide the highest level of musical training and wide-ranging performance opportunities to young people ages 4-18. Their vision is to transform the lives of Boston's youth, one voice at a time. Over half the participants are of low socio-economic status, one-third have mental health struggles, and all are vulnerable to risky behavior. No student has ever turned away due to financial constraints. After participating in the program, singers report higher self-esteem, a sense of community, and a generally improved outlook. The Boston City Singers Tour Choir has a 100% college and professional program acceptance rate.? ? ??It should come as no surprise that the pandemic wreaked havoc with Boston City Singers enrollment. What is unclear, however, is why enrollment is still only at 55% of pre-pandemic levels. Boston City Singers is asking CCT’s help to determine the root causes of this persistent drop-off. Once the causes are understood, the project will focus on providing actionable recommendations on (1) recruiting strategies and outreach tactics to yield more students in the programs and (2) changes to programming and potentially tuition pricing to better align with community needs.? ?? 2025 CCT Project Highlight ?? ??? Project Citizenship is on a mission to increase naturalization rates in Massachusetts and beyond! They provide free, high-quality legal services to help permanent residents become U.S. citizens—offering workshops, eligibility screenings, application assistance, and legal referrals at no cost. Project Citizenship works collaboratively with community-based partners who provide a range of support services, civics instruction, and ESOL classes. More than 70% of Project Citizenship’s clients are low-income. They have grown significantly, earning a strong reputation in the immigration services community. However, their process remains labor-intensive and time-consuming. To improve efficiency, they would like CCT to analyze their service delivery, identify inefficiencies, design a future-state process, and recommend how to implement future-state changes - taking into account any change management considerations.
