Ohio has a higher percentage of high school students taking college classes than most states. But, mirroring national trends, the state’s students of color remain underrepresented.

A Texas community college could soon expand its reach. Such expansions exemplify how colleges are better adapting to students' needs, but they must be designed with equity in mind, CCRC's Maria Cormier told The Hechinger Report. “These sorts of questions become important when colleges are proposing these kinds of expansions: To what extent are they thinking about longer-term pathways for students?” Cormier said.
