Today’s grand opening of the Conway Emergency Shelter signifies a vital step toward providing sanctuary, support, and resources so our homeless neighbors in Conway can get back on their feet. This concept first started with the collaboration in 2017 of the Conway Homeless Taskforce, which Mayor Bart Castleberry brought together. The task force consisted of city officials and local nonprofits who work with our homeless neighbors everyday. This was truly a community partnership project between various city departments, Bethlehem House, Conway Ministry Center, CAPCA, Salvation Army, City of Hope Outreach, Rise House, and United Way of Central Arkansas. May the Conway Emergency Shelter represent the collective conscience and compassion of our community. May it symbolize our shared commitment to caring for all people. May it acknowledge our responsibility in addressing the complex issue of homelessness.
