Join us for Fuel Up for Heat Up!!
Friends, this might be a little long. Bear with me. When I worked at the Greater Northampton Chamber of Commerce, I saw that the strength and vitality of our community was enhanced dramatically when businesses and nonprofits worked together. I saw it happen almost every day. I’m now working at COMMUNITY ACTION PIONEER VALLEY. We help our Franklin and Hampshire County neighbors who are navigating poverty. In a nutshell, our 40 programs help people stay fed, warm, supported and connected. A few weeks ago -- I had an idea. I was hoping that I could get a few restaurants to help with our Heat Up fundraiser. Heat Up raises money to make sure that people don’t fall through the cracks and helps them to stay warm and safe in their homes each winter. I hoped that this new partnership with Valley restaurants would add a different fundraising stream and the attention of a demographic of people that don’t know a lot about our work. By the time I had this epiphany, I had less than a week to pull things together. It was definitely a long shot. I told Clare Higgins if I could get 2 restaurants to participate, I'd be over the moon. I shouldn’t have worried. With the generous help of Jessye Deane, Amy Wilson Cahillane, @Debra Flynn, Lindsay Barron LaBonte and Tara T. Brewster , in four days the owners of Eastside Grill (Northampton) Mesa Verde (Greenfield) Local burgers fries and more (Northampton) India House Restaurant (Northampton) Leo's Table (Deerfield) Bueno Y Sano (Amherst, Northampton, Deerfield, W. Springfield) Protocol (Amherst) had said YES, OF COURSE! WE WILL HELP YOU. Fuel Up for Heat Up was going to happen. In an uncertain economic climate, these seven small businesses have agreed to donate a portion of their proceeds and help spread the word about Community Action’s work. They’ve agreed to encourage their fans and diners to know more about and support our efforts to care for our neighbors who have low incomes. Please mark your calendar and plan on grabbing dinner (take out or dine in) at one of our participating restaurants between December 2 and December 5th. Please reply “going” or “interested” to this event. Please share this with your friends and followers. Join these restaurants for a meal. Join them in supporting Community Action Pioneer Valley. Join them in caring for your neighbors. You will help us to keep our neighbors with low incomes safe, fed, and warm. Have questions dm me. I'd love to connect with you. https://lnkd.in/d67cpPZE
