The generosity of our community doesn't surprise me. During my years at the Greater Northampton Chamber of Commerce I saw this again and again. Since beginning my work at COMMUNITY ACTION PIONEER VALLEY, the need that surrounds us - well, that has definitely been more than surprising. We often talk about the "Happy Valley" and for many that descriptor is very true. Scratch the surface - and many of our neighbors are living on the edge. A car repair, a colder than budgeted winter, or an illness in the family can be catastrophic to a household's security and stability. COMMUNITY ACTION PIONEER VALLEY's mission is to keep our neighbors with low incomes fed, warm, working, and connected. The basics. Our Heat Up fund provides relief to those who's circumstances fall outside our state our federal funders definition of need. Heat Up funds keep people warm, working, and in their homes. This Wednesday, CAPV is the featured nonprofit at the Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce's Holiday Party. PeoplesBank is the sponsor of this event and is offering a match of up to $2500 for Heat Up donations given from now until the end of December. 100% of your tax deductible donation goes to our neighbors in need. This fund allows us to say YES and provide much needed help to those: + Who’ve been turned away whose circumstances disqualify them from HEAP Fuel Assistance + Who have a need that is not met through HEAP Fuel Assistance + Who received support but find that the relief that they’ve been offered has come up short.
