Quick change of scenery around here! Heather and Jessie were in Washington, D.C. this week. Alongside leadership from other Community Action agencies across the state, they met with our Nebraska elected officials. The agenda? Advocating for programs like Head Start, weatherization, financial coaching, emergency rent/utility assistance, and so much more.

When we put out a call for hygiene items and diapers, our friends at American Life & Security Corp. answered...and answered...and answered! Their employees donated a total of 1,425 items to Community Action over the last few weeks, which will keep the supplies for our participants stocked for quite a while. ?? Thank you, thank you, thank you!

There's a BIG shout-out and thank you to share! Last week, we were lucky enough to present the Community Action at Work award to Dr. Scott Applegate. This recognition is given to those who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to our mission. For over a decade, Dr. Applegate has lent his passion and expertise to our Head Start program, and we couldn't be more grateful for his guidance. Our entire community is lucky to have him! Will you help us thank and congratulate Dr. Applegate?

Big thank you to our friends at NMC for coordinating a donation drive for the Community Action Store! ?? These basic care items and clothing will be distributed at no cost to those we serve. They couldn't be more needed right now. Will you help us say thank you to NMC??? Our Store's shelves are still running low. If you'd like to help us re-stock, check out our Amazon wish list: https://lnkd.in/gwWnW6nv

What does it mean to be fearless? ? It means showing up for your neighbors. ?It means providing housing, education, and a nightly meal. ?It means putting your dollars to work. It doesn’t happen just once. Fearlessness happens every day. It's what we do. Become a monthly donor. Show up for your neighbors with a monthly gift of $10, $50, or $100—every gift is a fearless act. Regular support means the dollars are there when we need them. It means you are there when we need you. Which means we can show up fearlessly on doorsteps, in classrooms, and at the dinner table. Commit to fearlessness. Become a monthly donor today. https://lnkd.in/dUGHYKvB

Imagine if this was your morning. ?? Become a Community Action Head Start classroom sponsor, and it could be! Chris is a Community Action board member who also generously sponsors the Zippy Zebras classroom! We love when she (and our other sponsor friends!) stops by for a visit. Sponsorship provides a year's worth of support to a Community Action Head Start classroom. You can provide the art supplies, diapers, building blocks, books, CDs, and more needed for a successful year of fun and learning. Your investment comes with updates from your classroom, a plaque displayed outside the door, and the opportunity to visit and/or join activities! Check the link in the comments to learn more. ??

Alright, we need your help. There's a really, REALLY important "Thank you!" in order. Last month Lisa Hale participated in her last meeting as President of the Community Action Board of Directors. She's been a member of our board for ten years, and her leadership has been instrumental in seeing our agency through a great deal of change. We wouldn't be who we are without Lisa! If you know Lisa, you know she's the definition of fearless. At Lisa's last board meeting, we presented her with the Community Action At Work Award. This recognition is given to those, like Lisa, who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to our mission. Will you help us say thank you to Lisa? And congratulations!!
