We’re delighted to share that last week, two Action House volunteers were honored with the prestigious Governor’s Service Award! As Community Kitchen volunteers for more than 30 years, Wayne and Linda Pynnonen have helped build the welcoming, compassionate environment that the Kitchen is known for. Their dedication goes beyond serving meals; Wayne and Linda have become trusted friends to many neighbors who walk through the doors. Each interaction—whether it’s a familiar smile or a quick conversation—builds a sense of belonging that extends beyond the meal itself. For Wayne and Linda, volunteering isn’t just about providing food, but fostering a community where each person feels seen and valued.
