Today, we’re spotlighting CIS of Cape Fear’s 24th annual Stuff the Bus event! ?? This year, the event has evolved into a community engagement opportunity. Local businesses, corporations, civic organizations, and churches united to collect essential back-to-school items for students! Communities In Schools of Cape Fear is also preparing site coordinators and school administrators by investing in professional development, first aid and mental health support training, and relationship-building events for staff and school principals. September is Attendance Awareness Month, which highlights the critical importance of students starting the school year strong by being present in the classroom. Last year, more than 1 in 4 students were identified as chronically absent, meaning they missed at least 10% of school days. There is an urgent need for support to overcome the many barriers that affect a student’s ability to be present at school. At CIS, we surround our students with the support they need to show up to school prepared and ready to learn.
