?Student & Community Advocate/Program Manager Spotlight? Addison is very excited to be back in the Walla Walla Valley and to have an opportunity to help the community where she grew up. As Program Manager she supports the Advocate team in their day-to-day work in our schools throughout the Valley. Addison is the consummate advocate for the needs of students. We couldn't do this work without her!

?Student & Community Advocate Spotlight? With a background in early childhood education, joining CIS gave Helen the opportunity to support students and families every day. She utilizes her skills and connections in the community to provide support and valuable resources for students and their families, especially those at Pioneer Middle School.

?Student & Community Advocate Spotlight? As a Lincoln High School alum, Nathan is thankful for the opportunity to serve Lincoln students and the community that surrounds them. He is excited to continue using his varied skills in several fields of STEAM in this role in supporting students, helping them reach their potential and thrive in life.

?Student & Community Advocate Spotlight? Jennifer brings years of experience serving families and the community. She loves sharing her skills and knowledge to provide families with the services and support that they need. Doing this work with CIS in the community she calls home is a dream and especially at Gib Olinger Elementary.

?Student & Community Advocate Spotlight? Cindy brings 12 years of experience as an educator to the CIS team and has built a career around connecting with students and families. She loves that the work of CIS means empowering them to break down barriers and thrive in life. Cindy brings this passion for connection to the students at the Walla Walla Center for Children and Family every day.

November is Family Engagement Month! Communities In Schools advocates work hand-in-hand with parents and caregivers, empowering them to be present and support their children’s success in school. Family engagement is also essential to improving attendance! CIS understands that students can miss school for a variety of reasons including lack of transportation, and housing or food insecurity. That’s why the CIS model is designed to support kids in the classroom and their families by connecting them to essential resources and supports. Thank you to Tom's Yard Care of Walla Walla for their generous donation in support of the new food pantry at Greenpark Elementary School. The donation allows Communities in Schools to stock the pantry for the month of October and get the resources and supplies out to students. Your support of the students and families at Greenpark is greatly appreciated. Tom's Yard Care is a local Walla Walla business run by Tom Richard. ?Student & Community Advocate Spotlight? Born and raised in Walla Walla, Mindy continues to call the “town so nice, they named it twice,” home. Mindy brings a passion for student and family advocacy to her work with advancing the CIS mission and is generous in sharing her experience with new team members. She's thrilled to be kicking off the CIS program at Davis Elementary School this year.
