Elizabeth was recently featured on India Autism Center 's podcast! We met with India Autism Center on our recent trip to Kolkata, India. They are doing amazing work to ensure Autistic folks in India all across the spectrum have access to quality housing and needs-centered care, among many other initiatives. Can you guess what Elizabeth's main message was? "WE ARE JUST LIKE YOU. PLEASE TALK TO US, READ BOOKS WITH US, AND TAKE US OUT JUST LIKE YOU WOULD ANYONE ELSE IN THE FAMILY. WE ARE WAITING FOR YOU TO GIVE US A VOICE, JUST LIKE THE DEAF HAVE SIGN LANGUAGE. WE NEED YOU TO BELIEVE IN US, AND OUR LOVE WILL SHINE THROUGH OUR TYPED WORDS TO YOU." As always, C4A Academy is available to you free of charge, so that you can teach your nonspeaker to type to communicate. Start changing both of your lives today: https://lnkd.in/e4N78_yt

The Communication 4 ALL team is honored to have met with India Autism Center multiple times on our trip to Kolkata, India in February. We are especially grateful that they made this lovely and informative video about how C4A is working to ensure meaningful and effective communication via typing for ALL nonspeakers worldwide: tens of millions of people, at least. We know that many families in the US, in India, and around the world face seemingly insurmountable barriers to accessing communication resources for their nonspeaking loved ones. To begin to solve this, we developed C4A Academy, a program of internet-based instructional videos to teach nonspeakers how to type, free of charge. When we say “type,” we include pointing to letters on stencils and letterboards, as well as pressing them on a keyboard or tablet. C4A Academy also includes written lessons you will need to implement the program, a Facebook group, supplies, and other resources like “Ask an Expert” that will help you on your journey. The mission is communication for ALL! Give your nonspeaker a voice with C4A Academy: https://lnkd.in/e4N78_yt Video description: Ginnie and Elizabeth sit in a classroom, as Elizabeth types on her iPad to communicate and Ginnie explains C4A's mission. Subtitles and supplementary words appear on the screen as different subjects are discussed. Footage of Elizabeth as a baby and child, and of her valedictorian address and accepting her diploma at her college graduation are included on the bottom. Ginnie is a white woman with long brown hair, wearing a pink, white, and blue floral dress and a black cardigan. Elizabeth is a young white woman with long dark brown hair half-up half-down, wearing a white Communication 4 ALL t-shirt and orange and green floral pants. India Autism Center's logo is on the top right and ending screen. #apraxia?#dyspraxia #nonspeaking #nonspeakingautism #autism #autistic #autismempowerment #autisticadvocacy #nonspeakingdoesnotequalnonthinking #presumecompetence #typetocommunicate #aac #communication4all #c4aacademy #c4a #elizabethbonker #indiaautismcenter #inclusiveindia

?? Join Elizabeth Torres, PhD, and Elizabeth Bonker at the MAPS Medical?Spring 2025 Conference as they unveil their heart-rate variability project, Regulation 4 ALL. ?? ?? Thursday, March 13th ? 8:45am-9:30am ?? Myrtle Beach, SC One year after Elizabeth Bonker’s groundbreaking experiment on escaping fight-or-flight, she has teamed up with the Rutgers University Sensory Motor Integration Laboratory (SMIL) to launch Regulation 4 ALL, a program designed to detect autonomic dysregulation and identify personalized strategies for stability. This innovative, participant-centered research has already tracked 50 nonspeakers over three months, using heart rate variability (HRV) and facial micro-movements (FMS) to develop a first-of-its-kind app that non-invasively measures biorhythmic activity. ?? Dr. Torres has also created a course to educate families, clinicians, educators, and first responders on these research-backed methods for reducing stress and anxiety in neurodiverse individuals. Key Takeaways: ?? Understand the science behind micro-movements and biorhythmic activity ?? Learn how to identify dysregulation through physiological markers ?? Last Friday, C4A concluded a very busy week in Kolkata with a visit to India Autism Center. After meeting India Autism Center (IAC) representatives at the PARIVAAR NCPO 30th National Parents Meet earlier in the week, Elizabeth and Ginnie record a podcast at IAC's professional studio. The C4A team then met with many IAC leaders, including CEO N. Jaishankar, and learned about IAC's plans to build a cutting-edge, affirming living facility for 100 individuals with autism who have high support needs called Samavesh, Hindi for "Inclusion." IAC has developed a teacher training program for Samavesh and we will work with them to include C4A Academy to teach nonspeaking residents how to type. We gave them our cardboard stencil sets to get started! Thank you, India Autism Center, for a lovely morning, for your thoughtful gifts, for presuming competence, and for fostering inclusion on all fronts for Autistic and Disabled people in India.
