The term “unsung hero” was never more appropriate than in the case of our Purchasing Agent, Dan Meadows, who has reached 30 years with Communication Exhibits. Surrounded by stacks of sample books, boxes, and Post-It Notes, Dan works tirelessly to fulfill all our requests – from the most mundane to the exceedingly elusive – purchasing what we need, when we need it, at the best possible pricing. Early morning: there’s Dan. Late nights: still there, still smiling. Outrageous, last-minute, demanding, extreme requests: a normal Tuesday. In 30 years, there’s never been a “no” or “I can’t” or a frown. He exudes our values and takes personal ownership so that we all succeed (and recently added CEI ping-pong champ to his resume!). Unsung hero: Dan Meadows. Congratulations and thank you for your continued commitment to us!

The Guardians weren’t the only ones celebrating opening day last week: The @Akron History Center celebrated its official ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 5, and is now open to the public Wednesday through Saturday, 10am – 2pm. Of course we are biased due to the fact that we designed, fabricated, and installed this Akron showplace, but early visitors have raved about the three-story museum and the artifacts housed inside. Time to plan your visit! It was ping-pong pandemonium at Communication Exhibits as our brackets came down to the final two teams. In the end, Brett Marriner and Dan Meadows triumphed over challengers Steve Smolinski and Eric McConahay in the best of seven competition. With championship shirts on their backs and trophies in hand (and some sweat on their brows), the champs enjoyed their victory in front of the crowd, including “Biscuit” Fogel, the ping-pong wonder pooch, who could hardly contain his excitement!

Canal Fulton is turning into “spin city” and we’re ping-pong pumped! While others are busy watching basketball this March, CEI has kicked-off our own “madness” brackets with some intense ping-pong match-ups. Teams competing in the April championship round will be vying for gift cards, t-shirts, an awesome trophy, and of course paddle master bragging rights. The table tennis takeover has begun!
