This week, George McElwee, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Commonwealth Strategic Partners (CSP), and Katie Hazlett, Vice President of Federal Government Affairs, were honored as 2024 Top Lobbyists by the National Institute for Lobbying and Ethics (NILE). This is Hazlett’s second consecutive recognition from NILE as a Top Lobbyist.

Yesterday, a letter urging leaders of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs and the House Financial Services Committee to markup H.R.3170/S.1514, the Homes for Every Local Protector, Educator, and Responder (HELPER) Act, has secured more than 100 signatures from mayors in over 35 states. George McElwee, co-founder and managing partner of Commonwealth Strategic Partners remarked, “The overwhelming support from mayors across the country underscores the urgent need to pass the HELPER Act. Our 150+ cosponsors and 500+ endorsements reflect the significance of this legislation, and we look forward to its advancement in Congress.” The HELPER Act currently has 142 sponsors and cosponsors in the House and 26 in the Senate. Today, Kayla met with House Chair of the Education Committee, Jesse Topper, and Penn State’s Director of State Relations, Erin Wachter to talk about her interest and experience in government affairs. She is expected to graduate with concurrent degrees in both Political Science and American Studies this May.
