??FINANCIAL ADVISORS!?? Let’s talk transition. We tapped our experts in to answer some common questions on this BIG step for you and your firm. Check out the Q&A below to learn how the team supports you before, during, and after your transition.? ? Q: What are the Commonwealth Transition team’s unique strengths??? A:?It’s our deep knowledge of the process. Transitions are what we do and our sole focus day in and out. Being hyper-focused on new advisor transitions has led us to build an effective roadmap for?those?who come from every corner of the industry. We are a collaborative group of people, which means no detail goes unshared with the rest of the team, and each one is logged and used to improve the process for future transitions. –Zach Reid? ? Q: How long do advisors typically collaborate with the Transition team??? A: Pre-transition time varies, but we normally recommend 6–12 weeks in advance and 90 days for post-transition. The pre-join time depends on multiple factors: the firm the advisor is leaving, if they have an employment contract, if they have to give notice prior to resigning, if they are captive versus independent, if they’re permitted to take client data, if they have a business name, what resources they have, when they get paid, and more. –Deanna Leombruno ? Q: How do you ensure that a new advisor feels confident with Commonwealth’s platforms and technology??? A: Each transition has a dedicated Transition Support Partner (TSP) who is responsible for training advisors on Commonwealth systems, tech, and processes both pre- and post-transition. The TSP systematically rolls out our suite of training materials and meets regularly to go through organized trainings, office hours sessions, and Q&As based on the advisor’s immediate needs. Our goal is to make the office comfortable without knowing everything, but rather knowing where to go and who to ask when they have a question. We also assign subject matter experts from various departments to advisors depending on their specific needs. –Nikki Griffiths ? Q: What are your tips for managing the administrative requirements of a transition?? A: Be organized, know the ins and outs of your practice, define the roles and responsibilities of your staff, ensure full communication among your office, come ready to learn, devote time to the transition process, and be ready to execute! –Deanna Leombruno ? Q: In your experience, what are the key ingredients for a successful transition?? ? A: Supplying as much information up front as you can is ideal: it’s far better to overshare than to under share and potentially run into surprises. We’ll be introducing you to new systems and processes, so come ready to learn and grow. Organization is paramount to partnering on the work involved.
