In an article featured in The Lowell Sun, CCA’s Lauren Easton, SVP of clinical innovation, discusses efforts by CCA and other community organizations in Lowell to help deliver medical and social supports to migrant families currently living at the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center. “Once the families arrive at the ICC, CCA’s integrated care model kicks in. Families are triaged for services such as primary health care, school enrollment needs, English language and job placement services. The primary focus, said Easton, is preparing the families for an independent life outside the emergency shelter system. ‘At the start of everybody’s journey, we immediately start looking for housing,’ she said.” CCA is supporting similar initiatives at other locations across Massachusetts. ?T-minus 3 weeks!? Our next Flare Capital Partners Expert Roundtable we will be diving into the topic of Building for Scale in Medicaid. The Medicaid population, in particular, has experienced a history of highs and lows?–?going from being a historically ignored and underserved demographic, to gaining increased interest from payers and investors amidst Covid, to the recent setbacks of redeterminations impacting member enrollment and access to care. By now, we have discussed and understand the historical challenges that have deterred stakeholders from rushing to the space, as compared to commercially insured populations. Further, it is notable that innovators have continued to challenge the status quo because of these challenges, not in spite of them. Considering the continued interest to drive innovation for Medicaid, we want to briefly reflect on those challenges, but look forward to what is top of mind for leaders building for the critical and growing population. Please join?Flare Capital Partners?alongside a virtual panel of industry leaders as we discuss what inning of Medicaid innovation we find ourselves in. This roundtable discussion will provide a comprehensive view into Medicaid, sharing perspectives from the regulatory, startup, and payer lens. We'll explore how regulatory shifts are impacting this critical population, the opportunities and challenges ahead for startups building in the space, and how payers are evolving to meet the needs of their growing Medicaid and duals members. We are excited to dig into these topics with?leaders who are experienced in building for scale in Medicaid: ? Chris Palmieri, President & CEO, Commonwealth Care Alliance ? Adaeze Enekwechi, PhD, CEO, Cayaba Care ? Nikita Singareddy, Co-Founder & CEO, Fortuna Health ? Daniel Brillman, Co-Founder & CEO, Unite Us ? Karen S. Don’t forget to vote for CCA’s SXSW panel before the August 18th deadline! Moderated by our President and CEO Chris Palmieri, CCA has curated a panel proposal that explores the value of partnerships between private capital and healthcare organizations. While private capital’s role in healthcare has made headlines for months, there have been many misconceptions about how these partnerships can actually help scale creative solutions that improve care delivery and efficiency, making healthcare easier for consumers. This is also the philosophy behind Winter Street Ventures? (WSV), CCA’s start-up accelerator and venture investment subsidiary. WSV invests in disruptive companies that align with CCA’s mission and core values to explore creative solutions that improve outcomes for patients, members, and providers. “Health Plan as Startup Incubator: Private Capital Reimagined” will feature compelling insights from some of the leaders who are driving innovation in WSV’s investment portfolio: - Sylvia Hastanan, Founder and CEO of Greater Good Health, a healthcare organization enabling and expanding access to value-based, holistic primary care through an innovative Nurse Practitioner-led model. - Tracey Cohen, MD, FASAM, Chief Medical Officer of Marigold Health, a tech-enabled peer recovery innovator that created an anonymous social network to help individuals with mental health and substance use conditions support each other. - Brent Asplin, MD, MPH, CEO of Gather Health, an organization that provides comprehensive primary care for the complex senior population to improve the health of every community served.
