New research reveals that we have a plastic spoon's worth of plastic in our brains alone. Plastic infiltrates every part of our lives; it's in our cosmetics, our clothing, our cleaning supplies, our food packaging, our decor, our transportation, and more. In order to end our systemic dependence on plastic, we need to start taking steps to avoid it when possible. Here at Commons, we're asked about plastic-free cleaning products all the time. That's why our sustainability experts have begun rating cleaning brands for sustainability — including plastic usage, parabens, phthalates, palm oil, and more. Now on the Commons website and app, you can find our Top Picks for sustainable and plastic-free cleaning brands. https://lnkd.in/gYXypFYz #microplastics #cleaning #science #fossilfuels

At their best, corporate sustainability efforts result in fast, sweeping change, agnostic of the political environment. At their worst, they're a big green lie. The line between environmentalism and greenwashing is a thin one. I'm really looking forward to a candid conversation with Auden Schendler on his recent book, Terrible Beauty, in SF tomorrow 1/30 at 6pm. What questions do you have about the role of people and corporations in taking climate action? Would love to see you there: https://lu.ma/wyh2lskq

We're so excited to host a special event on 1/30 featuring Auden Schendler and his latest book Terrible Beauty, alongside Sanchali Pal from Commons who will be leading the fireside chat! Terrible Beauty is about the failures of the modern environmental movement, corporate greenwashing, and opportunities to create a paradigm shift in the ways we approach climate action. We're so excited to have a thought provoking discussion amongst the Bay Area climate community on how we can come together to achieve urgent progress towards climate restoration. Link to the event is in the comments; this event will be ticketed to cover the costs of hosting the event, but if the $10 is a financial burden for you, please reach out at [email protected]. Tag a friend that should come to the event below, and see you there!
