The Common Outcomes for Children and Young People Collaborative is a coalition of an increasingly diverse group of stakeholders who have been working together towards a common approach to outcomes for all babies, children and young people across the UK – it has evolved into an experimental, collaborative effort to address a systemic problem. The work was hosted by For Baby’s Sake Trust from its inception until May 2024, and is now a distinct unit within the incubation host, Dartington Service Design Lab (DSDL). Our shared vision is of improved and better outcomes for all babies, children and young people across the UK. Our mission is to deliver a programme of activities building a movement towards a broad consensus, change in practice and embedding of what success would look like for all children, rooted in what matters most to children and young people, their families and communities, and defined and measured more consistently, efficiently and effectively. The principles underpinning our collective efforts are: - A shared and long-term aspiration for all babies, children, young people and their families - A clear focus on the child and what matters to babies, children and young people - A strengths-based approach – focusing on what is to be achieved, rather than to be avoided - A desire to keep the high level, common outcomes as simple and accessible as possible, whilst recognising the detail, complexity and diversity sitting beneath

We really pleased to share the great news that the next phase of our collaborative efforts towards a common approach to outcomes for children and young people got underway in early September 2024, thanks to our cornerstone funders –Ethos Foundation, Collective Futures, KPMG Foundation and Cattanach – and our incubation host - Dartington Service Design Lab.?? ? We’re a small core team of Elaine Fulton, Director, and Hannah Wilson, Associate Director, building on what’s been achieved through a coalition of the willing over the last three years to deliver: ? ·???????Our?shared vision?of improved and better outcomes for all babies, children and young people across the UK ? ·???????Our?mission?to deliver a programme of activities building a movement towards a broad consensus, change in practice and embedding of what success would look like for all children, rooted in what matters most to children and young people, their families and communities, and defined and measured more consistently, efficiently and effectively ? I’m really pleased and excited to be presenting at the National Centre for Family Hubs conference on 16th October.?I’ll be focusing on my current work supporting the London Family Hubs Community of Practice to develop and pilot a common approach to capturing their unique contribution to outcomes for babies, children, young people and families.?We’ll be sharing our learning and more details as the work continues and I’ll be feeding into the next phase of the wider movement towards common outcomes led by the Common Outcomes for Children and Young People Collaborative, hosted by Dartington Service Design Lab.
