This week, we celebrate Sandra, our RN Case Manager, who is marking her 4th anniversary with Commonheart Home Health! ?? Sandra’s dedication to her patients is truly inspiring. Sandra loves teaching patients, helping them work toward their goals, and improving their health outcomes. She also treasures the opportunity to listen and collaboratively develop solutions, especially for those in the small towns she visits. Over the past four years, Sandra has grown tremendously. "We see a variety of patients with different needs. You have to be prepared each time you walk into a new situation, not knowing what’s happening on the other side of the door," she shares. Sandra believes this has helped her become a better listener, giving patients the time and space to express their concerns and needs. Her favorite memory? The unwavering support of her coworkers. Even though they don’t often see each other in person, Sandra never feels alone. “I know I can always call with any questions or concerns,” she says. This week, we celebrate Toni, our dedicated nurse with 29 years of experience in home health care! ?? Toni’s passion for her work shines in everything she does. Over nearly three decades, she’s built meaningful relationships with her patients, helping them achieve their goals. Caring for patients in their homes has allowed her to grow as a nurse and connect on a deeper level. "We see how they live, the hurdles they face, and the support they need day to day," Toni shares. By understanding her patients’ daily lives, Toni tailors her teaching to meet individual needs. She’s become a better teacher, listener, and a more compassionate caregiver, fostering strong bonds with her patients and their families. Her expertise extends to wound care, tube feeding, catheter care, and IV infusion, but it’s her thoughtful approach that sets her apart. One touching memory she shared involved an elderly man. After learning he and his wife slept on the same side of the bed for 70 years, Toni suggested switching sides—a small change that led to his healing. Winter can be beautiful, but it comes with challenges. Commonheart's got your back! Stay safe, warm, and accident-free with these essential tips: ** ?? Dress Smart: Layer up with insulated clothing, hats, gloves, scarves, and waterproof boots to protect against frostbite and hypothermia. Cover exposed skin when it’s freezing. ?? Clear Walkways: Prevent slips by shoveling snow and using salt or sand on icy paths. If you can’t manage, ask for help to stay safe. ?? Winterize Your Vehicle: Stock your car with blankets, water, snacks, a flashlight, batteries, jumper cables, and a shovel. Check tire tread and keep the gas tank at least half full to avoid freezing. ?? Use Space Heaters Safely: Place heaters on flat surfaces away from flammable items. Always unplug them before leaving the room or going to bed. ??? Monitor Indoor Air Quality: Ventilate properly when using fireplaces or gas heaters to prevent carbon monoxide buildup. Install and maintain CO detectors. ?? Prepare for Power Outages: Keep flashlights, extra batteries, and a radio handy. Charge your devices and have non-perishable food and water ready. ??
