Common Future

Rejecting a history that would tell them "No.", Common Future invests in a future where "Yes." is around every corner for Black and Indigenous women and non-binary leaders. By granting them the funding, mentorship, and peer support that they've been historically excluded from, we push closer to the visions and hopes of the communities that these leaders carry. Though we are not ignorant of the tactics of the tactics of those who fight against progress, we will persist. Because this is how we push back. This is how we win.

At the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Gathering, co-CEO Jennifer Swayne Njuguna, Esq. SHRM-SCP announced our work with the Community Credit Lab (CCL) Fund. This $35M Fund invests directly in Black and Indigenous leaders, communities, emergent economic models and practices—from land trusts to cooperatives and community-owned real estate—to advance racial and economic equity. Common Future and the Community Credit Lab (CCL) Fund have committed to strategically investing capital and resources toward racial and economic justice. Within our investment work, Common Future affirms that racial economic justice looks like increased access to capital, guaranteed affordability of capital being accessed, and a promise of building power, choice, and ownership for these communities. In recent years, we've witnessed a powerful shift towards fairer labor practices, with significant legal victories enhancing workplace equity, wages, and protections. These wins are a vivid reminder of our collective strength when we come together to challenge the system.
