Helping companies set their employees up to find best friends at work

When I walked into the Gaylord hotel for #CoreNet last week, I had some intense deja vu. It took a minute, but after I saw the huge glass facade in the lobby, I clocked it. I had been there years ago—in high school—at a youth group convention (BBYO). My time in that youth group helped me form hundreds of deep friendships, many of which are still going strong today. How perfectly fitting that I was back at the Gaylord to speak about connection. The folks at Colliers brought my company, Thred, in to co-facilitate a session on the topic and—the really fun part—to use our tech to actually make connection then and there in the room. Attendees bonded over shared interests, and it was a blast. Apparently a couple of the "Mellow Travelers" went right from strangers to friends and invited each other to Thanksgiving dinner ??. I'm thankful to Chris Zlocki, M. Michelle Cleverdon, and the whole Colliers team for being willing to push the boundaries and try something new and innovative. Such a privilege sharing the stage with you! #CNG24DC

We used our tool IRL today at #CNG24DC to help participants network in a more meaningful way, using shared interests. Then, Chris Zlocki, M. Michelle Cleverdon, and our CEO, Aaron, spoke and facilitated discussion about building a people-centric organization. Thank you to Colliers for the partnership! #CoreNetGlobal

This morning at #CNG24DC, attendees heard from Chris Zlocki, M. Michelle Cleverdon, and Aaron Chasan as they explored what it means to build a people-centric organization in today’s hybrid world. With loneliness on the rise among workers, the session highlighted the importance of fostering inclusivity, embracing diverse perspectives across all levels, and leveraging technology thoughtfully. Through collaborative discussions and shared experiences, attendees walked away with actionable ideas on creating a more connected workplace. Thanks to all who joined us! #CoreNetGlobal #ColliersOS

Change Leader ? Disruptor ? Executive Coach ? Podcaster ? Developing leaders for the future of work

Spreading the (unsponsored) word about one of my favorite innovators in the HR space, Thred. Utilizing a simple and fast-to-execute tool, they specialize in accelerating employee connectivity based on what each employee has in common and, they can measure impact with network analysis (the way into my heart.) As the CHRO of Auvik, we have used Thred's tool and love it. Our experience with Thred then led to a number of other brainstorming ideas as to how and where we can help accelerate connections and trust - two of the most important aspects of improving productivity. If you are looking for ways to build community and connectivity at your work (among all employees, for new hires, within ERGs, across cross functional project teams, etc.), drop a comment. I am happy to introduce you to the Founder Aaron Chasan! This tool is especially great for hybrid and Remote First org design.

Helping companies set their employees up to find best friends at work

Your employees aren't a family, but hopefully they are friends. Research has repeatedly shown that those with friends at work are far more likely to stay. We studied this with real data at Thred, and, sure enough, found a staggering correlation between connection and turnover. There was a 44% drop in turnover rate for those who went from 0 friends to just 1. It makes sense. Community is at the heart of so many life choices—why would it be any different for the place where we spend a third of our waking hours? I’m super excited to share my latest contribution to this field of study. Check out this article that Michael Arena and I wrote for HR Exchange Network.

We are thrilled to announce our latest partnership with Peerspace! Over the next year, we’re helping Peerspace with 3 things: 1. Building community for their distributed workforce 2. Jumpstarting networks for new hires 3. Saving the People Team time spent manually facilitating intros Why did Peerspace go with us? We ran a pilot over the summer, and the results spoke for themselves. Here’s a highlight: Our overall net promoter score (NPS) was in the 90th percentile for our industry, and our NPS among users who participated in at least two Stitches (our interest-based 1:1s) ranked in the 100th percentile. Thank you so much to Daisy Fabian, Mary-Helen Galleno, and the rest of the folks at Peerspace for making this partnership happen.

Helping companies set their employees up to find best friends at work

"Having 1 friend at work is enough to significantly reduce the odds of loneliness." The problem is that so many people don't have a single friend at work—before working with Thred, an average of 1 in 4 of our clients' employees had no work friends. I find it hopeful that while the loneliness problem is extensive, it's not unsolvable by any means. #Loneliness #EmployeeExperience #EmployeeEngagement
