Stuart Reist, Director of Jungle Breeze Youth Ministries in the Peten, Guatemala recently reached out to me about a new project they are seeking the Lord for to start on in Jan-Feb of 2025. After going over it with Stuart we decided to do a quick write up on it, and send out to our business contacts to see what God can do! JBYM is a youth ministry in the Peten jungle dedicated to getting the troubled youth of the area hooked on Jesus! For more information on JBYM and their ministry you can have a quick look at their website: https://lnkd.in/gsMFMet3 Quick history: In 2022 they finished a wood shop project for the teens they work with. Various woodworking projects are done there, including shop classes for the high school program and making furniture for the Tree of Life School and Clinic. We've attached some pictures of their work on the Mechanic shop to the left of the current wood shop. Their mechanic shop right now consists of a little shed off the mission house as pictured to the left. This is Phase 1 of the build project. This second story will enhance their capacity to host larger work groups for various work projects. It will also provide opportunities for short-term volunteers, paving the way for potential long-term commitments as they gain valuable experience. The second story will feature dedicated dorms for both boys and girls, separate accommodations for couples, as well as a laundry room and showers. This is Phase 2. Phase 3 of the project will involve constructing a new mission house for their guest coordinators. It will provide essential living space for a couple or family who will oversee work groups and prepare meals for visiting teams, among other benefits to the ministry. For all 3 phases they are looking at raising around $200,000. Meet Oscar and Iris Pastor Oscar and his Wife Iris are Guatemalan nationals originally from the area of Jutiapa. 20 years ago the Lord called them to the country of Jordan! They worked as missionaries in Jordan for 5 years with their two kids. During their last year there Jordan went into political turmoil and the Islamist extremists started targeting Christians, the ministry that sent them decided to bring them home to Guatemala at that time. Once back in Guatemala Oscar felt a call to start a church near his home town of Jutiapa. Today their church is the largest in the area, and Pastor Oscar uses this base of operations to evangelize his area for Christ! Our Commission Recently the Lord put it on one of our board members hearts to help Oscar who we have known for many years. Though Oscar is the Pastor of a remote village church in the mountains of Guatemala, he also has an evangelism ministry in the mountains around his church. Part of his local ministry is to bring food donations and supplies to the poor in and around his area. Oscar uses this ministry of giving supplies as an opportunity to personally evangelize in peoples homes and share the Gospel of Christ with locals, winning the villages around him for Christ! Oscar uses a truck he has owned for many years and put a lot of miles on, to take these donations to the locals and evangelize his area. During his recent visit to the states, the Lord put it on one of our board members' hearts to work on finding funding for a new truck for Pastor Oscar and his ministry. He has had many mechanical issues as of late, and the current truck is having issues taking on the mountain roads and terrain as well as it used to. Our goal is to fund a new truck, and purchase taxes for this new truck, for Oscar and his ministry. We have a goal to raise $20,000 to purchase the truck, pay to have it checked over by a local agency that checks vehicles before purchase, and pay any government taxes for this purchase. Really excited to be able to get these radios donated from a local business in Lima to The Lords Hands and Feet for mountain ministry! While we were down visiting them last week we noticed a need for short range communication when in the mountains installing stoves. Lima Radio Hospital Inc stepped up and donated 5 complete two way sets with replacement parts for this need! We are repackaging with bubbling wrap now and shipping out to their next team going in two weeks, they will be put to good use for sure! Thank you Radio Hospital for meeting the need!
