Happy #NationalApprenticeshipWeek ! At Commercial Tool Group, we have five registered apprenticeship programs through the Department of Labor: CNC Machinist, Mold Maker, Machine/Fixture Builder, Maintenance, Electrical. Through these program's coursework and on-the-job training, individuals will acquire the necessary skills to perform at the journey level. We are in the process of increasing to six programs, which will include a Mold Design apprenticeship through the DOL as well. Additionally, we have established an in-house apprenticeship training program for Controls Apprentices to earn an Electrical Controls Engineering Technology, A.A.A.S. We are thankful for all of the hard work and dedication these apprenticeship programs bring to CTG!

West Michigan American Mold Builders Association recognized and awarded 18 apprentices on their hard work and desire to learn the skills of a mold builder, mold designer, CNC machinist, or die maker. Two of our employees, Andrew Caswell and Brian McClorey were recipients of this award and had the chance to introduce themselves and our company last evening. Managers, recipients, and family attended the dinner, chapter quarterly business meeting, and award ceremony. A big thank you to WM AMBA and Nemic Industrial Supply for putting on this event, we really enjoyed being a part of it! This morning, we had the opportunity to present about Commercial Tool Group and our internship opportunities to students in the Plastics Program at Ferris State University. Last week, we hosted our annual chili cookoff that takes place every year the week of the Michigan vs. Michigan State game. A huge thank you to KEYENCE CORPORATION for sponsoring this event for our Walkent location! We tried eight different chilis across the two locations and employees had the chance to vote on their favorite one. Congratulations to all of the winners! We also had the chance to congratulate two of our employees, Joshua Feuerstein and Jeremiah Howe on their completion of the Department of Labor Mold Maker Apprenticeship Program through CTD. We have made significant progress in the installation of the Millutensil YSM 3525, the first hybrid press of its kind in the market. This specially built machine will be used for spotting large molds and is also a 2000-ton (SMC) tryout press with roll-out bolsters on the top and bottom. By the end of October, we expect the press to be ready to spot plastic injection molds.
