Over 900 financial institutions across the U.S. have embraced the FedNow? Service, the Federal Reserve's instant payments infrastructure, to meet the growing demand for faster payment solutions. In 2023, a significant majority of businesses (86%) and consumers (74%) reported using instant payments, with many expecting their financial institutions to provide these services. The FedNow Service empowers banks to stay competitive, enhance customer experience, generate new revenue, and attract and retain customers. Notably, instant payments offer users greater control over cash flow and the precise timing of payments, benefiting both individuals and businesses. Institutions like 1st Source Bank and Salem Five Bank are leveraging FedNow to innovate and improve customer experiences in areas like bill pay, digital wallet funding, and earned wage access.
