Over 20 years ago, I was laid off when I was on maternity leave with my first child. It set me on a different career path and weirdly made my family more of a part of my conversation around my work than I think they otherwise would have been. I mention my family, and my responsibilities, including my aging parents, all the time. It's true of my comedy, too. Here's that baby from 20 years ago introducing me at a standup show last month.
