One Colorado community is taking steps to boost the health care workforce by establishing the state’s first health science high school. The magnet school, which is set to open in 2027, is a partnership of Aurora Public Schools and Community College of Aurora. Comagine Health President and CEO Marc Bennett has been elected chair of the Civitas Networks for Health Board of Directors. Comagine Health is an active and longstanding member of Civitas, a national nonprofit collaborative of over 170 member organizations dedicated to improving health through health information exchange, data use and cross-sector collaboration. This is Marc's eighth year serving on the Civitas board and the board of one of its legacy organizations, the Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement. Board leaders were chosen because of the wealth of experience they bring and their shared vision for advancing Civitas’ mission of transforming health through collaboration and data-driven innovation. “I am honored to serve as board chair in 2025 and to work alongside such a talented and dedicated group of leaders,” said Marc. “Their deep expertise and unwavering commitment to improving health data exchange and health systems at the local, regional and national level will be invaluable as we continue to drive progress. Together, we are poised to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in health care, public health and social care.” In addition, Comagine Health Director of Community Health Katrina Seipp-Lewington has been named chair of Civitas’ Emerging Leaders Council, with a non-voting seat on the Civitas Board of Directors. “The Emerging Leaders Council seat on the board is important as it reinforces the leadership connection between the council and the board,” said Katrina. “For me, it demonstrates the level of commitment and investment Civitas makes in a new generation of leaders.” Maternity Program Manager Ami Hanna, MPH, is also a member of the Emerging Leaders Council, which offers participants a unique platform to enhance leadership skills, expand their professional networks with industry peers and contribute to transformative health initiatives. Members are selected for their commitment to collaboration, innovation, and driving meaningful change across their communities.

Comagine Health Senior Research Scientist Mary Gray and Director of Research and Evaluation Erin Stack will present the poster “Fentanyl Awareness and Risk Among LGBTQ+ Youth and Young Adults: Insights From an Oregon Survey” on March 18 at the Joint Meeting on Youth Prevention, Treatment and Recovery in Baltimore. Congratulations to Comagine Health Improvement Advisor Edy Taylor on her recent award from the New Mexico Medical Society! They honored Edy for her many years managing Continuing Medical Education for Comagine Health in New Mexico. Comagine Health accredits CME events for both internal offerings and for other groups that contract with us to provide CME credits. In 2024, the program accredited CME for 2,094 physician learners and 2,598 other learners. Edy oversees the CME program, assisting applicants and learners as they go through the process of claiming their credits. This recognition is a testament to her hard work and dedication.

The recently published paper “Peer-Assisted Telemedicine for Hepatitis C in People Who Use Drugs: A Randomized Controlled Trial” reveals that a combination of peer support and telemedicine can significantly boost the cure rate for hepatitis C. Comagine Health, Oregon Health & Science University, HIV Alliance and BAFS - BAY AREA FIRST STEP INC. collaborated on the study to demonstrate a new approach to treating hepatitis C in rural Oregonians who use drugs. One group of study participants received information and referrals to local services from peers with lived experience in drug use. Participants in the other group received treatment with the new model, which included more intensive, ongoing peer support as well as telemedicine care from a team of health care providers. Of those who were randomly placed in the intervention group, 63% were cured of hepatitis C, compared to just 16% of the participants in the other group. Find out more about this exciting discovery: ?
