We were honored to be a part of the Inspiring Change discussion hosted by JPMorganChase, where our very own Charity Martin-King represented the Columbus Urban League on a panel discussing the incredible work of local nonprofits. Alongside Kim Emch, Addie Natalie, and Linda Nelson, Charity shared how generosity can truly transform lives. A huge thank you to JPMorganChase for hosting and for recognizing the power of Giving Tuesday, as well as to Cathy Norton for moderating the inspiring conversation. As we celebrate this season of giving, don't forget that many companies offer matching donations, especially on #GivingTuesday! We ask you to please consider supporting the Columbus Urban League this season of giving. Your generosity truly makes a world of difference! ??Inspiration in Action at WRTU!?? Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting?the Columbus Urban League's Workforce Readiness Training University (WRTU), guided by Vice President of Leadership and Workforce Development Charity Martin-King, and I was blown away. The physical space is impressive, but it’s the?cultural environment?that truly sets it apart—a perfect blend of purpose, professionalism, and passion. What stood out most was the dedication of the team. From fostering meaningful opportunities for participants to creating pathways for growth and success, their commitment is undeniable. Charity Martin-King and the staff embody the spirit of community transformation, and it’s clear they are making a lasting impact. It’s always energizing to witness organizations like WRTU and Columbus Urban League in action, and this visit left me more motivated than ever to continue supporting initiatives that empower youth and build brighter futures. Thank you, Charity Martin-King, for the warm welcome and for showcasing the amazing work being done at WRTU. And THANK YOU for the cool SWAG! Looking forward to seeing what’s next!???? #Leadership #YouthEmpowerment #WRTU #TheyNotLikeUs

This morning Mayor Andrew Ginther gathered with community leaders at the Huntington Empowerment Center to unveil his proposed budget, focused on building an equitable and prosperous future for all Columbus residents. The event was kicked off by our President & CEO, Stephanie Hightower (She/Her), who welcomed attendees and highlighted the critical work the Columbus Urban League is doing to strengthen our community. From advancing housing stability to guiding youth at risk of entering the justice system toward a more positive future, President Hightower showcased the wide-ranging impact of our programs. She also highlighted the invaluable work of our Neighborhood Violence Intervention team, who have successfully negotiated over 100 peace agreements across Columbus. These boots-on-the-ground efforts are making a real difference in creating safer, stronger neighborhoods for all of our families. In his budget proposal, Mayor Ginther emphasized the importance of a collaborative approach to neighborhood safety — one that combines prevention, intervention, and enforcement. With a 24% reduction in homicides compared to last year, we are already seeing the positive outcomes of this strategy. The proposed budget includes vital investments in housing, youth programs, health, technology, and transportation — all essential elements in fostering a thriving, prosperous city. Carlie J. Boos, Executive Director of the Affordable Housing Alliance of Central Ohio, also spoke to the critical role of housing stability, providing families pathways out of poverty. At the Columbus Urban League, we are excited to support these proposed investments and remain committed to partnering with the city to create a safer, more equitable, and prosperous future for all of our neighbors. #EquitableProsperity #SaferNeighborhoods #StrongerColumbus #CommunityImpact
