Community leaders (and local media) came out in force this morning for the grand opening of JPMorganChase’s Northern Lights Community Center, where Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon made a special appearance. The Linden location is one of 19 Chase community centers nationwide that provide banking services, financial education and small business advice to underserved communities. The branch, which first opened in June 1958, switched to the community center format last July. “These branches work,” Dimon says. “When you do something like this, the community starts to get better because people are being paid locally, maybe they’re opening another business. We’ve seen evidence that a restaurant might move close by.” “It’s not a zero-sum game. The better Linden does, the better Columbus does, the better Ohio does, the better America does,” Dimon says.
