Absolutely love it! And true networking means creating meaningful connections. In early career it may be one's abilities and achievements but ultimately it is the networking that is the main source of professional opportunities!
YOUR NETWORK IS YOUR HIGHWAY TO GET YOU WHERE YOU WANT TO GO! Sallie Krawcheck, CEO and Co-Founder of Ellevest, recently shared the power of networking and the importance of knowing a lot of "Michaels." She explained how her connections led her to find a talented and diverse team for her company. (Read her post) Networking can lead to unexpected opportunities. I experienced this firsthand when Sallie invited me to speak at an event promoting women in executive leadership. I had a million other things to do at the time but I agreed to attend because I believed in the cause she was promoting to elevate women in executive roles. There, I met a professional recruiter. She was impressive and dynamic. Back in those days we actually carried business cards. I gave her a card and said “when you wanna’ be more than just an executive search person, give me a call.” Three years later, she called me and said “it’s time” . We have since worked together for six years, filling some of the most impactful and complicated jobs in the world that needed leaders to run Fintech companies that are digitizing and democratizing financial markets. Maybe I owe Sallie a fee! Sallie's story is a testament to the power of networking and how it can lead to finding the right talent for your company. Of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t encourage you to call an executive recruiter instead. Sallie’s example where one call, led to two calls, led to three calls, led to eight calls that eventually helped her find the right person is impressive. However, calling the executive search consultant would be my preferred approach. So, keep expanding your network and building meaningful relationships because you never know where they might lead you. AND also remember that the right executive search professional could also be the answer. #networking #talentacquisition #diversityandinclusion #leadershipdevelopment
