Recently, our Operations team members in the Mansfield area hosted a panel for students in an adult career program. Team members discussed what it means to pursue a career in the natural gas industry and the wealth of opportunities that exist in our industry. Columbia is committed to supporting workforce development throughout our footprint.

This week, Columbia Gas team members recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October by dressing up in pink for our #PinkOut. Team members discussed why spreading awareness of breast cancer and supporting breast cancer research is important to them. Additionally, team members, supported by the NiSource Charitable Foundation, donated to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital & Solove Research Institute. Since its inception in 1998, the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research has raised more than $26 million to support breast cancer research and find a cure. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth

Last week, Columbia team members joined the Central Ohio Veterans Stand Down to help with event setup and sort clothing donations. The Central Ohio Veterans Stand Down collects donations that support our nation’s veterans, providing them with clothing, services and more. From legal aid and housing support to recreational activities specifically for veterans and fresh food and snacks, the Central Ohio Veterans Stand Down has been providing services and donations to veterans since 1995. Over the weekend, we supported ABC 6 WSYX-TV, Scouting America and CAS during the Tackling Hunger food drive to benefit the Mid-Ohio Food Collective. Over the weekend, we joined Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed to donate and plant 25 native trees at Linden-McKinley STEM Academy and Hamilton STEM Academy. This event isn’t just a fun way to get outside on a beautiful day with our friends at FLOW, it’s also a way to reaffirm our commitment to our aspiration of sustainability. Clean or replace your air filters regularly, and schedule an annual furnace tune-up. 2. Seal windows and doors by weatherstripping or caulking all cracks. 3. Open curtains and blinds to use natural light as a source of heat during the day. 4. Wash laundry in cold water. 5. Turn the dishwasher off at the drying cycle and open the door to air-dry dishes. 6. Unplug appliances when not in use.

Earlier this month, we joined the UNCF for their Walk for Education in Columbus. This walk isn’t just a fun way to get together, enjoy the beautiful weather and promote physical activity, it also supports the UNCF’s efforts to raise funds to support Historically Black Colleges and Universities and local students.
