Welcome Tim to the Columbia Club! The Columbia Club is excited to introduce Tim, our newest Guest Service Associate and Security Team Member. With over 30 years in hospitality and a background in front-of-house roles—including management, serving, and bartending—Tim brings a wealth of experience in creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere. In recent years, he expanded into security work at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, developing skills in guest screening and crowd management. Referred by our Director of Security, Dwight, Tim sought a stable and secure workplace and found the perfect fit at the Columbia Club. Now, he plays a key role in welcoming members, assisting with appointments, and ensuring a safe, comfortable environment. His attentiveness and friendly demeanor enhance the sense of community that defines the Club. Tim values safety and encourages members to practice urban awareness, such as not leaving running cars unattended. His favorite space in the Club is the Grand Lobby, which he describes as a blend of library and museum, and he admires the historical elegance of the Crystal Terrace. If he could share a meal with anyone from the past, he would choose Theodore Roosevelt, whose fascinating stories would captivate Tim. Describing the Columbia Club as prestigious, historic, and valued, Tim is a fantastic addition to our team. Be sure to say hello next time you visit and experience the warmth and professionalism he brings to our community!

The Columbia Club is a prestigious private Club in Indianapolis, Indiana that was founded in 1889. Originally called the Harrison Marching Society, the group was formed to help elect Benjamin Harrison as the 23rd President of the United States. After the election, the group decided to secure a clubhouse and increase their membership, renaming themselves the "Columbia Club" after the popular patriotic synonym for the United States. Over the years, the Columbia Club has hosted many distinguished visitors, including Presidents Roosevelt, Eisenhower, and both Bushes, as well as Charles Lindbergh and Queen Marie of Romania. In 2012, the Club was selected as a Platinum Club of America, making it one of the top 35 city Clubs in the nation. The current clubhouse, the Club's third home, is a 10-story architectural showpiece located on Monument Circle that was dedicated in 1925. Today, the Columbia Club offers its members world-class dining, networking opportunities, a health and wellness center, and a variety of special interest Clubs and events. FAMILY OF THE MONTH: THE LETEXIERS The Columbian spotlights a different family member each month, offering a glimpse into their contributions, memories, and reasons for being Columbians. How long have you been a member? December and I joined August of 2019 What is your favorite memory of being a member? We’ve enjoyed many great memories here at the club: Tonya’s great service up in the Platinum Lounge, Ken’s rather magical Old Fashioned down in the Harrison Room, Pickleball in the Ballroom, making Gingerbread House’s with our nieces…too many to count! What is your favorite Club event to attend and why? OctoberFest on the Circle is our Top “Must Attend” event every year. It is hard to beat the spectacular views of the Circle combined with great friends, music and of course beer! What does being a member mean to you? We love being Members of the Columbia Club for its civic and social endeavors, great dining, events and of course the many reciprocal clubs which are all equally spectacular as the Columbia Club. What made you want to join? We had a few Lockerbie Square neighbors join and felt it would be a great way for all of us to enjoy the Club benefits together. What is your favorite thing to do at the Club? We enjoy sitting on the patio over a lazy summer day, people watching and great conversation with fellow members. With whom do you spend your time with at the Club? Mostly our Lockerbie Square friends who joined around the same time as us but also anyone who uses the co-working space on the 5th floor as we utilize this space at least a couple times a week! How has the Club changed/evolved since you joined? Given we are still relatively new members it is hard to pin-point any changes or evolutions however since we joined the Platinum Lounge, Co-Working Space and the Wine Cellar all were completed and make great additions to what was an already amazing Club.
