?Employee Spotlight: Griffin Hansen? Happy Birthday, Griffin! Today, we’re excited to celebrate Griffin Hansen, our Conservation Planner at the Columbia Basin Conservation District. Growing up in Moses Lake, Griffin has always had a passion for agriculture and conservation. This interest led him to Utah State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Soils and Sustainable Land Systems. He then returned to Washington and recently graduated from Central Washington University with a Master’s in Cultural and Environmental Resource Management. In his free time, Griffin likes to canoe, cook, and camp with his spouse. Exploring Eastern Washington and understanding the way this unique landscape is worked is a passion of his. He brings dedication and commitment to every project, creating a positive impact on conservation and strengthening our community in the Columbia Basin. Thank you, Griffin, for all that you do, and here’s to a fantastic birthday!

Exciting changes are happening at Lower Peninsula Park!?? Last week, our staff teamed up to create a demonstration garden featuring low-water plants and native riparian plants for shorelines. This eco-friendly project shows how sustainable landscaping can protect water quality and enhance beauty! Funded by the WA State Dept. of Ecology, this garden showcases plants that thrive here in Moses Lake while reducing pollution and runoff. Thank you to Washington State Department of Ecology, Columbia Basin Conservation District, the City of Moses Lake, Tapteal Native Plants, BFI Native Seeds, Derby Canyon Natives, Basin Bark, Tommer Construction, Evans Contracting, and Jon Morrical for making this all come together! We appreciate your support. We’re excited to bring back new ideas and continue our work supporting the Columbia Basin. Thank you to our team and board members (left to right), Deanna Elliott, John Preston, Kaley Wisher, Glenn Burkholder, Dinah Dorene Rouleau, Harold Crose, Audrey Rhodes, Doug Allen, Britton Baker, Angelique Heinzen, Griffin Hansen, Dave Stadelman, Ron Sawyer, and Kristina Ribellia for attending and representing the Columbia Basin Conservation District! ????

The Columbia Basin Conservation District regrets to confirm that the six Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) proposals we submitted to the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service for the Odessa Groundwater Replacement Program in July were not awarded according to announcements made by NRCS on October 23rd. Despite this setback, we remain hopeful and dedicated to aggressively pursuing NRCS funding for the OGWRP. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g8fCNxuK
