[Re-sharing the post after our marketing team made an edit.] This will be an excellent discussion, and you all should come! I am thrilled to share that Rachel Garcia with the Mexican Cultural Center in Denver will be our facilitator. I was fortunate to meet Rachel during the Colorado Humanities' Reflective Conversation facilitator training this past April. LaNaya B. has put together a cohort of incredible individuals who make a true difference in our community, and was humbled to meet and talk with everyone. Even better - we learned the skills to facilitate deep and important conversations on a variety of important social topics. Welcoming newcomers is exactly one of those important subjects that we critically need to reflect on. And dare I say that we have an amazing panel of local experts in welcoming and including immigrants: Andrea Loya with Casa de Paz Colorado, Diana Higuera with Rocky Mountain Welcome Center, Najeeb Hamdard with ECDC African Community Center of Denver, Walid Sharif, and Nga V??ng-Sandoval?with Refugees + Immigrants United. This will be an important discussion, so please join us and invite members of your community, organization, church, mosque, neighborhood, and so on. We need you there.
Upcoming Event: Stories of Welcoming: Newcomer Panel Discussion on Wednesday, August 14 at 6 pm at Koelbel Library Reserve your spot: https://arap.li/4bInSA7 Join us to learn about what makes communities welcoming and how to support newcomers in our area. Hear from local subject matter experts about refugee resettlement and newcomer integration. Panelists will also discuss where support is still needed. Featuring Andrea Loya, Diana Higuera, Nga V??ng-Sandoval, Najeeb Hamdard and Walid Sharif Al-Ani.
