In order to protect land, we also must protect Colorado’s celebrated land conservation ethic. Colorado Open Lands is in the business of forever. That means we view our work with the intention that it last perpetually. With that understanding, we create programs and opportunities that aim to instill a connection, wonder, and respect between all Coloradans and the land. It’s that time of the year again! Our Conserved Colorado Holiday Guide is available now to download for the festive season. As a community, let’s support landowners and businesses who have given Coloradans the ultimate gift by permanently protecting their land. If you’re new to Conserved Colorado, welcome! Conserved Colorado is a directory of products and experiences you can purchase that are produced or offered on protected land across the state. The guide is segmented into regions, allowing you to shop near your home or during your travels! In addition, we always include stories from the land, and other engaging information all about land conservation. The highlights of this guide include: - Gift ideas for your loved ones this holiday season, including shippable items! - A sampling of publicly accessible conserved land you can adventure on this winter – featuring protected land held by eight different land trusts! - A story from Colorado Youth Outdoors focused on building relationships in Northern Colorado. - A winter-themed outdoor activity for junior conservationists that can be done in a neighborhood park, on a nature walk, or in any of the conserved open spaces across our state. Download your guide at ConservedColorado.Org! If you’re looking for a printed guide, reach out to Yvonne Schramm at [email protected].

The Conservation Leadership Series met this weekend in South Park for a camping overnight and workday on a conserved ranch. It was a great weekend hearing stories of the land from our landowners and helping maintain this historic ranch. Thank you to the whole cohort for putting in a lot of work, and thank you to our landowners for welcoming us at such a beautiful property!
I had the privilege of joining fellow members of the Colorado Open Lands CLS cohort for a weekend of volunteering at a historic conserved ranch in South Park, CO. Our efforts included painting rails, installing new fence posts, and removing invasive thistle along the river. We are deeply grateful to the landowners in this program that graciously share their knowledge, stories, and the magic of their property with us, helping to inspire the next generation of conservation leaders. Many thanks to COL for facilitating such invaluable learning experiences on the land.
