A strategic research partner for government agencies and a bridge to the research community
关于我们
The Colorado Evaluation and Action Lab was created in 2017 under the leadership of the Governor’s Office to unlock data-informed solutions to our most pressing social problems. Working together with a broad range of government and community partners, we conduct research with rigor to obtain the best available evidence to address these challenges. We operate under the belief that government can be most effective and efficient when all sectors—public, private, nonprofit, community, and academic—work together to develop solutions to society’s most pressing problems. So we meet our partners where they are, work together to innovate, achieve targeted goals, and ensure that resources are used wisely. We use the Colorado Steps to Building Evidence model to conduct research and evaluation with rigor. We want to understand the core causes of problems and build evidence to inform, activate, and sustain efforts that improve the lives of Colorado residents. When we do this, we leverage data to inform policy and practice and set the wheels in motion to achieve and sustain change.

The Colorado Evaluation and Action Lab has served as an Evidence-Building Hub for the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) since the agency’s inception in 2022. We’re excited to build on this through the newly launched Universal Preschool Evidence-Building Hub. This new hub will help the state to grow the evidence base on funding preschool for all Colorado children the year before kindergarten. https://bit.ly/4eORFZV

We are excited to partner with Philanthropy Colorado and ResultsLab on a community of practice approach to move funders and nonprofit grantees away from viewing evaluation as compliance and control to a place of trust and shared evidence- building. https://bit.ly/3TW6r9k

Colorado is gaining recognition as a national leader for providing an alternative response practice in Adult Protective Services. Through a pilot program, Adult Protective Services is tailoring responses for at-risk individuals in low-risk situations, such as self-neglect due to an elderly person with limited mobility not having the proper equipment in their home to take care of bathing and hygiene needs. We appreciated the opportunity to highlight this innovation on a national stage, sharing emerging insights as we assess the effectiveness of a dual-track approach—alternative and traditional responses—on client- and system-level outcomes. https://bit.ly/4eyOVAe
