CEMA members have received the following message via email as well. Joint Message from Lori Hodges and Nathan Whittington Dear Colorado Emergency Management Association We realize the last few days have been difficult and there is a ton of energy around the challenges presented at the conference. We want to provide some clarity regarding the facts of what has taken place. On Thursday morning President Hodges called a meeting of the Board to respond to a complaint made by the Southeast Region. To be clear this meeting was called by the President – not the board, and the President abstained from the meeting since the issues presented were related to her leadership. As requested, the board provided her feedback and asked for her resignation, which ultimately led her to communicate across the association she had been removed. ? The board unanimously supported her decision to remove certain silent auction items and never opposed that action. ? This morning, President Hodges was informed by Nate that the board’s feedback on Thursday did not remove her from the presidency. Nate and Lori spoke about her continuing on as President, and she declined. Lori submitted her letter of resignation. We both agree that work needs to continue to complete anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies that were already drafted for the CEMA association member’s consideration.? ? Additionally, Nate and Lori agree that personal attacks against CEMA members and the CEMA Board are unacceptable. No one should be subjected to name calling, attacks on their character, or other insults. Both Lori and Nate have been subjected to these attacks over this last week. This should not be who we are. We are living in a divisive time. It is important to have professional conversations about these difficult issues without personal attacks. ? Both Lori and Nate are dedicated to making the changes that are needed to move forward in a positive direction and will continue to work together to ensure a smooth transition for the benefit of the entire CEMA membership. Sincerely, Lori R. Hodges and Nathan J. Whittington ***Please direct all questions or concerns to [email protected] for further support.
