    *MARKETING MONDAYS* Key takeaway: invest in SEO and a robust content strategy. The research by Datos & SparkToro reveals key insights into web traffic referrals: 1. Google dominates as the largest referrer of U.S. web traffic, accounting for nearly 2/3 of all referrals from the top 170 sites. 2. When grouping similar domains, Microsoft-owned sites combined for a 7.21% referral share, highlighting the importance of comparing like with like. 3. The study introduces the concept of "The Long Tail" of web traffic, focusing on referrals to sites outside the top 170 most-visited, revealing that only 22 sites have a significant share (0.1% or greater) of traffic referrals to this segment. 4. Reddit, despite its policies limiting outbound traffic, and Amazon, known for being a destination rather than a referrer, surprisingly make the list of significant referrers to the Long Tail. 5.
