关于我们
We are Colonna's. Colonna’s Shipyard, Inc. is a diversified industrial company, with multiple divisions and affiliates delivering the highest quality ship repair, machining, and steel fabrication services to both the commercial and government markets. Colonna’s Shipyard, Inc. is located in the historic Berkley section of Norfolk, Virginia and is the oldest continuous family owned and operated private shipyard in the United States. Founded in 1875 by Charles J. Colonna, a 26 year old ship carpenter with limited resources, the early business was limited to pier-side repairs. Within 2 years, Charles had added his first marine railway powered by two horses that had a lift capacity of about 40 tons, and he was off and running. Although over 140 years old, Colonna’s Shipyard continues to maintain its commitment to modernization, making the capital investments necessary for improvements in efficiency and productivity. Today, Colonna’s is a diverse industrial company with extensive capabilities in commercial and government ship repair, machining and large steel fabrication. Colonna’s strength is our employees. We employ the best and the brightest in the shipyard industry and we are proud of all that they do. From welders and ship fitters to government contract specialists, we have the right people in place to make sure the job is completed to the highest standards. Respect~ Pride ~ Truth ~ Family These are our CORE VALUES and the guidelines that make us a leader in our industry. We are pleased and confident in stating that our skilled employees are among the most respected experts in the ship repair industry. Colonna’s Shipyard and our affiliates are pleased to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. EOE/M/F/DISABILITY/VET

We are proud to recognize our 2024 VSRA Tradesperson of the Year nominee, Stephen Howard, and Junior Tradesperson of the Year nominee, Travis Jackson. Mr. Stephen Howard began his career at Colonna's over 40 years ago as a member of the dock shop. Since then, he has developed a wide range of trade skills—from structural work to rigging—and has earned certifications to operate nearly all of our heavy equipment. Stephen is our go-to expert for heavy equipment operations, ensuring that even the toughest jobs are completed efficiently, effectively, and, above all, safely. A significant part of his role is mentoring junior mechanics, apprentices, interns, and management trainees. His commitment to excellence sets a standard for not only the next generation of tradespeople but for everyone around him. Travis Jackson, who graduated this year from our apprenticeship program, continually pursues training opportunities to grow as a marine electrician. He is frequently recognized for his innovative solutions to complex challenges, enabling projects to finish on time and within budget. Safety is a cornerstone of Travis's work. He often leads safety training sessions, is an ambassador for our lock-out/tag-out program, and vigilantly monitors work areas for hazards. Additionally, Travis's commitment extends beyond work; he is an active member of his community and church, participating in initiatives like neighborhood cleanups, food drives, and other outreach events. Both Stephen and Travis embody the values we strive to uphold at Colonna's Shipyard. Their hard work and commitment inspire us all and set a standard of excellence for the industry. We are proud to celebrate their achievements and look forward to seeing their continued impact on our team and community. #Colonnas1875 #RespectPrideTruthFamily #VSRATradespersonOfTheYear #SkilledTrades
