Congratulations to the Chicago Department of Transportation on 50 years of Chicago 811 and 115 years of the Office of Underground Coordination (OUC)! We’re proud to support the OUC’s efforts through the Project Coordination Office (PCO), helping to ensure safe and efficient infrastructure projects across the city.
In spirit of 811 Chicago's 50th anniversary, and 115 years of The Office of Underground Coordination...We made a video highlighting the unique, but highly effective, process that anyone digging in the city of Chicago must abide by. The CDOT Division of Infrastructure Management has a 3 step process for any new installation in the public way: 1. Submit your design to the OUC for approval 2. Receive permit to dig 3. Submit 811 ticket Many people have been curious about how the OUC process works and what makes it so successful, and after making this video our answer is simple- it's the people who work there. Such an efficient system is still only as good as the people running it, so give credit to folks like Jai Kalayil, Matthew Peterson, Sheetal James, Bryan Gallardo, Kelly Samara, P.E., and many more. Thank you for making Chicago one of the best cities for damage prevention!
