We recently hosted our annual Horse Plinko Cyber Challenge, a high stakes cyber defense competition designed to simulate real-world network protection scenarios with a live red team poking at the competitors systems. Jacob Salmon Tabur Salmon This year was a big undertaking for us, with a 43% capacity increase and entirely remade backend becoming the largest student run Cyber Defense Competition in Florida! And to finish off the post here are some quick statistics we enjoyed from the competition, - 166 competitors across 41 teams - 52 box resets - Service with most downtime: Web Server - 743 horses plinked - Nearly 25% female competitors

Congratulations to A Team with A Dream from the University of Central Florida, the winner of the 2024 CyberForce Competition?! This year's competition focused on defending a wind generation power plant from cyberattacks – and A Team with A Dream worked together to successfully keep those turbines running! The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Argonne National Laboratory are excited to assist in building the next generation of cyber defenders through the CyberForce? Program. ???? Hack@UCF is back and better than ever! ???? We had our first General Body Meeting last week, where we had a full house plus a whole lot more! With around 350 people in attendance interested to get their start in cybersecurity, we’re starting off the new school year strong. Our next meetings are all training focused on gearing up beginners with enough knowledge to be ready for our Horse Plinko Cyber Challenge! Horse Plinko is the largest collegiate blue team competition in Florida, running from October 5-6th. International Horse Plinko League participants will get real-time experience defending their servers against our in-house red team, made of senior members and our highly acclaimed C3 Team. We’ll be posting more as it draws closer, but it’s already only a month away! What an amazing experience! Our cyber defense champs traveled to D.C. and visited the Pentagon, U.S. Secret Service, Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency, Homeland Security Investigations Cyber Crimes Center, and the U.S. Capitol to learn more about protecting the nation against cyber adversaries.
